Comment:

 I wrote a [http://svn.automattic.com/wordpress-tests/wp-
 testcase/test_includes_formatting.php couple of tests] (search for
 test_iri) and the proposed patch passes them and all the previous
 {{{make_clickable()}}} tests pass too.
