 Ideally we'd have different backends that can be used.  DD32's plugin
 updater has some nicely organized filesystem backends.

 svn support is well and good, but most people are going to be using ftp.
 If you have svn and a shell you can just write a one-liner that calls svn
 up over ssh and be done. :-)
