 Btw, I initially ran into the bug when I tried adding a filter to
 option_home.

 add_filter('option_home', 'user_trailingslashit', 30);

 It seemed to make more sense that way, since http://www.domain.com gets
 redirected by the canonical url stuff to http://www.domain.com/ when the
 permalink structure has a trailing /.
