 What is "Encoding for pages and feeds" in the Settings -> Reading screen
 set to? What is DB_CHARSET in wp-config.php set to (if set at all)?

 Try die()ing with post_content in the wp_insert_post() function in wp-
 includes/post.php.  See attached diff.
