Comment:

 I'm unable to reproduce this in the current trunk. Colons work as expected
 in both link title and image title attributes.

 This sounds like a problem with kses or wptexturize (or another filtering
 function), since it's happening in both TinyMCE and the HTML editor. Could
 you try inserting an escaped colon `\:` to see if that would work
 properly.
