 Knowing a bit more about the future plan, and reflecting on how short of a
 time shortCodes have been out (as far as the impact of breaking backwards
 compatibility), I'm happy with the solution.  I'll test it out tomorrow,
 and update my google maps plugin to work with it.

 Sorry I missed the IRC discussion, but it sounds like you guys hashed it
 out pretty well.
