 There's an ini_set() in wp_text_diff():
 http://trac.wordpress.org/browser/trunk/wp-
 includes/pluggable.php?rev=7747#L1377 and later an ini_restore().

 I don't know if that will work on all systems, but I wanted to try it
 first rather than modifying the code.  (Though I've already modified it in
 the sense that I've left out about half of the package.)
