 Since Wordpress 2.3, Widgets are part of the Codebase. Before 2.3 Widgets
 were a Plugin authored by Auttomattic. The Api of the old Plugin is
 documented [http://automattic.com/code/widgets/api/ there].

 A google search over the ''codex.wordpress.org'' domain for the widget
 important funciton ''register_sidebar_widget'' showed, that wordpress
 documentation completely lacks of important API Inforation about widgets.

 Simply taking over the API documents from automattic.com results in simply
 taking over outdated documentation because the API has changed sicne then.
 But it would be a first start if it would be at least marked as outdated.

 From a API definition the following wordpress upgrades might profit
 because the can test or reference their changes against the official API.
