 if someone uses the date & named based structure, and then decide to
 switch to the archives/%post_id% structure, he gets tons of 404 on his
 sites. the permalink redirect plugin on which the canonical redirect code
 is based had an option to configure an old permalink structure. ideally,
 this would be tracked as the permalink structures are changed instead.
