 Also, this did not happen in WP 2.2.2 or 2.2.1 or even 2.2.

 To note also, in previous versions, only when you make a fresh install of
 WP and use an apostrophe it will have the backslash, but it seems that in
 2.2.3, if you modify it it does the same thing.
