Comment:

 I have now sorted this out. I didn't think that I had any plugins
 affecting my admin panel, but I finally found the culprit:
 [http://ink.bur.st/wordpress-plugins#kin Knanh's Instant Notepad].
 Disabling it sorted out the problem. I have let the plugin author know
 about the problem.
