 Can someone explain in plain English what the status of this is?  Is the
 issue dead because Matt removed the feature?  Or is there still a way to
 appeal its removal?  And if so, how?  I don't how to submit an enhancement
 tkt.

 The feature was enormously helpful to me & I miss it a great deal.
