 Come to think of it, the real problem here is that the logic for making
 permalinks is not doing the same thing as the logic for searching for a
 post from a permalink.

 Of course, given that the date is invalid, this may not be much of a
 surprise.

 Then of course the other problem is that the time stamp is invalid and is
 saved in the MySQL database with an invalid date.
