 Interesting, thanks for your comments. Inches notation is USA-centric,
 I've not heard of another country that uses it - given I live in Germany
 and I can't turn off this USA notation, I would say this is a small bug.

 For anyone else with this problem: workaround is not to use quotes around
 phrases that end in numbers but to use the HTML itself:
 “your_text”
 If rich text editor is on you have to do this in the source.
