 Well, that blows that theory out of the water then. If the pingback
 appeared, then that means that it was successfully able to do an fsockopen
 to your own server.

 2 things to check:

 1. Check that both the URL's on the Options->General page are correct.
 Wordpress uses the first of these as the website that it's hitting when it
 tries to run wp-cron.

 2. Try it again on an automatic basis, but forcibly set doing_cron = 0 in
 your database before you do it. Then you have to hit the website after the
 future post time to make it try to run wp-cron.
