 sehh, Thank you for this bug report. It is very well written!

 Milestone is an option that WordPress developers will set. 2.1 is
 currently close to beta, and without a developer taking ownership of this
 issue, it will not make it.

 A patch would definitely improve the likelihood of a developer marking
 this milestone 2.1 . Thorough testing info will earn you a gold star.
