 Additional: Nevermind, the XML spec hakre pointed to does specifically
 allow for single quotes around attributes. So appearantly it is okay. I
 thought otherwise.

 hakre, that second line is important:

 [10] AttValue ::= '"' ([^<&"] | Reference)* '"'
                |  "'" ([^<&'] | Reference)* "'"
