 Nice ideas. Sadly I'll won't have access to my laptop this week: just
 brief access to Trac at school (and I don't fancy doing development with
 notepad ;)). I'll try to begin work again this coming weekend,
 incorporating the changes that Ryan suggested, adding the extra
 granularity, and who knows, I might even have time to have a crack at
 add_base() :)
