Comment:

 If you want to convince everyone that trackbacks are better than
 pingbacks, this is not the place to do it (wp-hackers is).

 If you wish to start another bug up so that this situation could be
 handled by a plugin and not a core hack, go ahead, but do it in a seperate
 ticket.
