 While editing an entry if I put in special html entities like & into a
 custom field these get put in the database correctly.  However, when
 reloading the edit screen any & get turned into plain &'s in the text
 box, so any re-editing causes problems.

 Here is someone else describing the problem in case my description is
 lacking.

 I think what he's saying is, if you put & in a custom field, save it,
 and then go to edit that custom field, its echoed out as &, which your
 browser interprets, so the next time its saved you only save an &.
