Comment:

 Re-opening this, as the `maybelater` is now `soon`. There's no ETA on
 implementation at this time, only that it's likely to be needed soon.

 We'll need to fully audit WordPress.org is properly handling IPv6
 addresses in various code paths, so this may result in a number of
 changes.
