 From my vantage point as someone who maintains a couple dozen plugins and
 works closely with a broader portfolio across the WordPress ecosystem, I
 have not seen much recent demand or discussion around this and do not
 anticipate using it in our current plugin development at Fueled + 10up.
 That’s not to say it is not valuable, just that I’m not seeing a strong or
 immediate need within the specific contexts I’m working in.  That said, I
 can see how this might serve other parts of the ecosystem, especially if
 it's useful for WordPress.org tooling, canonical plugins, or related
 efforts.  I’d defer to @dd32 or others who might have more visibility into
 those angles or backend needs.
