I believe that full translation of every element isn’t necessary, but
there are key interface elements in the Photo Directory where Korean
localization would significantly improve the user experience. For example,
I would prioritize translating:
Category, Color, Orientation, Sorts
Image info
EXIF data
Attribution
License/usage (linking to the official Korean version of CC0:
https://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/deed.ko)
Date published
Dimensions
In fact, units like "px" or other standard values don’t need to be
translated. Also, since English and Korean concepts don’t always have a
1:1 mapping, there are times when keeping the original term actually helps
with clarity.
However, from a user experience perspective, even bilingual users often
find localized UI labels more approachable and welcoming. So I think it's
worth considering partial localization focused on key interface labels.
> Right now It might not be the best moment, given the current shortage of
meta contributors, but in the long term it might be a good idea to
translate:
> * Frontend strings: it is a small project
> * Alt texts: those are context-less, easy to translate strings
> * Tags and categories?: I have my doubts with these
