 Not realy, but let me try.

 I thought, that when the current detection is based on either a
 {{{block.json}}} exists or {{{register_block_type()}}} is called,
 shouldn't it be possible to look for calls to
 {{{registerBlockVariation()}}} from inside the plugins {{{/build}}}
 folder.

 I guess @dufresnesteven [comment:2 meant something similar] with

 I have no clue how the current detection works in detail, but I hope, we
 could find a way to better reflect all (kinds of) blocks.
