> It's true that the block editor in the context of Blocks Everywhere is a
simplified version of the block editor, and not all of those issues apply
in this context. However, I think a lot of what this comes down to is
speed; the block editor is more of a hassle to use than a simple text
area, and offers very little in terms of benefits.

Shift + Tab when using NVDA + Chrome and NVDA + Firefox; what's your
combination testing that @alexstine?

> I can appreciate that the code path is more complicated when we have
multiple options available; but I also think that it's extremely important
for users to be able to choose a simpler tool when that's what works best
for them. Having a simple textarea where a user can type their response
quickly and easily, without all the extra information contained in the
block editor makes the experience considerably more efficient for many
users.

> The data about low usage feels disingenuous, given that the availability
of the simpler editor has not been widely advertised and is difficult to
enable.

> The alt text issue *is* something that needs to be resolved in core,
however. The fundamental issue is that the alt text field is in the
settings panel, but should be editable directly in the block. It is more
possible to add alt text in the old editor, however, since you have a code
view.

> Overall, I feel like we don't have any real information about whether
users prefer the block editor or not; and the data we have about usage is
problematic, given that users don't have a lot of choice. But I also feel
that for the vast majority of users, it probably doesn't make any
difference at all which editor is in use. But as is common for
accessibility issues, it is extremely important for the people it impacts.
This is why numbers like "how many people are using this" are not really
relevant.
@joedolson You can reach it with shift+tab but it isn't the first tab stop
so you have to go a ways for it. I find this confusing for users who don't
know Gutenberg. Thanks.
