This ticket can up during [https://make.wordpress.org/support/2023/03
/support-ticket-triage-session-march-8th-2023-at-1600-utc/ |this week's
Support ticket triage session].
There seems to be quite a lot of interest (17 stars) and alignment about
this proposal and it would be consistent with the way other team grant
badges. For instance, it only takes to translate a single string to get
the "Translation Contributor " badge.
In that sense, setting a threshold of 400 feels like a very high number. I
would suggest lowering to 100 or even fewer replies.
The idea below will likely merit a different ticket but I concur with
@sterndata that it would be great to send users emails to acknowledge
their work and to share information with them.
- First Reply Email users to thank them and share a link to
https://wordpress.org/support/forum-user-guide/
- 10th reply: New thank you email and more info about
https://make.wordpress.org/support/ & https://make.wordpress.org/chat/
- 100th reply: Let them know they have a badge and thank them again. Ask
them if they want to become moderators.
Additionally, if technically viable, it would be nice to have an automated
message displayed in the #forums channel when a users is granted the
badge.
