 This only happens when editing the forum profile (ex.
 https://wordpress.org/support/profile/ipstenu )

 Sometimes, when you edit an OLDER account (to leave a note, to change role
 to blocked because the email bounced), you end up with the changes NOT
 being fully saved because there's no nickname.

 Yes, it needs a nickname, but that field is NOT marked as 'required' so
 it's not obvious until you have to re-do work.

 Recommend: If there's no nickname, auto-copy the user-name to nickname and
 spare the moderators their time :)
