 @pyves Please use this API instead:
 `https://api.wordpress.org/plugins/info/1.0/akismet.json` instead. The
 `.downloads` field there is the one you want, and the API will return an
 error for an invalid slug.

 That API is more standard and more acceptable to be used by others, while
 the stats endpoints are specifically WordPress.org-focused.
