Comment:

 Usually strings shouldn't start/end with spaces but I agree that the
 editor should be enhanced to support features like this. This needs to be
 handled upstream though so I'm going to close this as a duplicate of
 https://github.com/GlotPress/GlotPress-WP/issues/166.
