Comment:

 I'm going to close this as a duplicate of #5519 - even though it's not the
 same functionality, it's ultimately going to be fixed by the same thing.

 I'm not going to personally deploy any plugins such as the proposed once
 onto WordPress.org, as I don't believe we should maintain something like
 that going forward, and it requires the obsolete pages to continue to
 exist.

 As per #5519, a plugin I would support, would be one which fixes
 https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/4328 in a way which could be added
 to WordPress itself through the wp_old_slug_redirect() functionality.
