 It's been over a year since the last update here, and a spam dump was just
 cleared out of the Managing Plugins page.

 Any update on this particular aspect?

 With less eyes on the Codex these days, spam can linger far longer, thus
 damaging WordPress's perception to folks who find our docs there via
 search engines. Managing Plugins was one of our most popular docs, and in
 this case, the spam lingered for 3 weeks:

 I understand we can't close the Codex totally since pages must still be
 transferred, but simply setting the Codex to read-only would be a huge
 help in limiting spam.
