Comment:

 This change was me, and not a fully intentional change.

 The category.php template in the theme was a mess and included custom
 loops, markup that was no longer used, and a myriad of other problems that
 was interfering with some SEO markup changes.

 I agree, with this style of archive page it should show the full history
 rather than using a paginated state.

 I'll get it fixed.
