Hello friends. Posting here per advice from this conversation in the core
 slack:

 Per https://make.wordpress.org/design/2020/04/20/next-steps-for-
dashicons/, the Dashicons project is closing to new icon requests. The
GitHub project has been updated to reflect this:
 https://github.com/WordPress/dashicons/blob/master/README.md

The next step is to update the Dashicons resource page,
 https://developer.wordpress.org/resource/dashicons/, which I understand
has hardcoded text that lives here:
 https://meta.trac.wordpress.org/browser/sites/trunk/wordpress.org/public_html
 /wp-content/themes/pub/wporg-developer/page-dashicons.php

Would very much appreciate help making this happen.

 Suggested changes:

 Replace this:

 > For new icon requests, please <a
 href="https://github.com/WordPress/dashicons/issues/new?labels=request">create
a new issue on the Dashicons github</a>.

 With this:

 > The Dashicons project is no longer accepting icon requests. Here's why:
 <a href="https://make.wordpress.org/design/2020/04/20/next-steps-for-
 dashicons/">Next steps for Dashicons</a>.

Or it could even be simpler:

 > The Dashicons project is no longer accepting icon requests.

 Thank you!
