 I guess there's more or less only one thing left: namely to put links to
 these great pages in a good spot.

 I think the link to "Stats for most popular Themes" / "Stats for most
 popular plugins" could be added as a banner on
 https://translate.wordpress.org/locale/[locale code]/default/wp-themes and
 https://translate.wordpress.org/locale/[locale code]/default/wp-plugins
 respectively.
