Comment (by iandunn):
* I agree that "building" and "making" are more friendly than
"generating". "Generating" sounds more "correct" to me, but that's
probably just because I'm an engineer. "Exporting" sounds "correct" to me
too, but probably isn't as friendly as "building" and "making". I agree
that, for something like this, it makes sense to go with something more
user-friendly. "Building badge data" has a nice alliterative ring to it :)
It'd be fun if there were a good synonym for "data" that starts with a
"b", but I can't find one :(
* Adding a note to the badges landing page sounds good to me. For the
InDesign page, I was thinking that, when they come back, if the data is
still being built, the modal would pop up with the progress bar, just like
it would as if they'd never left the page. Then, once it's finished, the
spinner goes away and the download link is shown. So, they get a
consistent interface/flow regardless of whether or not they stay on the
page the whole time. That's just my first thought, though, I'm open to any
other ideas you have!
* The modal should be dismissible, though, so that they can restart the
process if it gets stuck or something.
* Streamlining the landing page sounds great!
* The email notification should be fine. The wp-admin notice is doable,
but might take a bit more time than we want to invest v1, since we'd have
to add code to track if they've downloaded it or not.
* Those Figma wireframes look great!
* I'm guessing we'll want a spinner rather than a progress bar, since
determining how far along in the process the script is will probably be
too much of a time investment for v1. It'd be good to have some text
letting the user know that the process could take up to 10 minutes,
though.
* I really like the friendliness of the "in progress" text, but the
pedantic/literalist in me is a little offput by the promise that the data
will be ready when they return, since it can take 5-10 minutes, and they
might return before that. Maybe something like,

> Your badge data is being compiled. This can take up to 10 minutes, so
feel free to navigate elsewhere while you wait, and you'll receive an
email when it's finished.
[[br]]
That's just a rough draft, though, and I'm definitely open to other
ideas.
