The ` ` is there to prevent
[https://stackoverflow.com/questions/8854138/is-there-a-way-to-
automatically-control-orphaned-words-in-an-html-document orphaned words]
(in this case `time`, `easier`, `too`) from wrapping to a new line.
They don't need to be preserved as is, but rather adjusted to avoid the
same issue in translations. Perhaps that should be clarified in a
translator comment.
