added.
After looking through this again, I think the benefits of adding all the
links actually outweighs the downsides - and I previously felt otherwise.
I was going to list all the links and my thoughts, but it mostly boiled
down to this:
- The majority of links are useful to all sites
- There are a few footer links which are not localisable, but that should
be there regardless (or that are already linked to anyway)
- There are a few footer links which are going to be localisable soon
(/about/*)
- There are a few footer links which are not useful to either
WordPress.org or locale sites, and should just be removed IMHO - but
removal should be in it's own ticket.
There's probably a list of links which locale sites would benefit from
being able to add, but the simple fact is that they can't right now, and
the footer design doesn't really allow for it.
If locale sites ''need'' extra links there, a separate ticket explaining
the need for it and a few use-cases would be appreciated.
I'm going to import the strings for localisation into the new wporg theme,
they're pretty short strings so probably need some translator comments, if
someone else agrees a patch would be appreciated.
