 wp.org has a download counter:

 https://wordpress.org/download/counter/

 In the local sites dashboard, we have the download counter per local:

 https://he.wordpress.org/wp-admin/index.php?page=download-stats

 Can you use this code to create a "shortcode" for a local download
 counter?
