 That field is actually
 [https://meta.trac.wordpress.org/browser/sites/trunk/wordcamp.org/public_html
 /wp-content/plugins/wcpt/wcpt-wordcamp/wordcamp-admin.php#L540 required]
 now in order to change the post status to pending or draft, so it's
 probably safe to assume it'll exist.
