 FWIW, .tar.gz haven't been generated for nightly releases for quite a long
 time.
 .tar.gz is only available for official release archives (Partial builds
 and all builds used by WordPress autoupdates are zip's)

 luckily, .zip is only a few percentage points bigger than .tar.gz, and is
 just as widely supported.

 Personally, I vote for removing the link.
