[wp-hackers] hierarchical CPT w/ Templates?

can a Custom Post Type w/ hierarchical => true
uses custom page-like Templates?
(ie, not talking about single-{cpt-slug}.php,
but any Custom Template w/ "Template Name: Foo" at top.)

this ticket, and trying the code itself, say no:
"Template" shouldn't show for custom hierarchical post types

there's an Attibutes box, but only w/ Parent & Menu Order;
NO Template select menu to be found.

yet the Codex is convinced it can be done:

under "supports", it reads: "'page-attributes' (template and menu order,
hierarchical must be true to show Parent option)"

is this a 3.2 thang, as the (closed) ticket implies?
