[wp-hackers] Plugin version update indicator

I'm about to update two of my older plugins. In doing this I want to move the minimum supported WordPress version way up. How intelligent is the wordpress.org update engine? If I move the minimum supported version to say 2.9.2 for example will users running 2.9.1 still receive the plugin update notification on their system? I would rather they didn't so they can continue running the older code until the upgrade to new WordPress core.
