[wp-hackers] Multisite w/ Subdomain issues

I've tried this before and it's difficult with multi-site set up.

I guess the question is, how do we 'jump in' before WordPress serves up the
registration page at m.example.com and instead serve up example.com with a
different theme?

Because, once we set up subdomain wildcards, WP is running the show then?
