While looking for some licensing related stuff I came accross the
(now inexistant?!) copyright statement in the WordPress package.
This was the original Statement of the code at the time of fork:
> Copyright notes:
>
> b2 is (c) 2001, 2002 Michel Valdrighi - m at tidakada.com -
> http://tidakada.com
>
> Wherever third party code has been used, credit has been
> given in the code's comments.
> b2 is released under the GPL (see license.txt).
(located in readme.html, r3).
Now that's for the code that has been taken over. Just some commits
later (r48), Matt Mullenweg decided to remove the copyright string
documenting the change along with others as "some minor update".
This resulted in the following statement:
> Copyright notes:
>
> Wherever third party code has been used, credit has been
> given in the code's comments.
> WordPress is released under the GPL (see license.txt).
Is there more information available about that change next to the
commit message? Maybe someone still has some details? Probably
the comitting developer?
Having more information about that change is greatly appreciated.
With the information available right now it just looks like the
removal of the original author's copyright statement which does not
make any sense at best.
I'd like to learn more.
For documentation purposes I've listed all WordPress Copyright State-
ment related changes with references and texts here:
