[wp-hackers] Rename 'Excerpt' and Three Column Layout - Custom Post Types

I've tracked down the filter I need, however the JS isn't responding when I
select 3 columns:

add_filter('screen_layout_columns', 'my_custom_columns', 10, 2);
function my_custom_columns($columns, $screen) {

 if ($screen == 'my_screen') {
 $columns['my_screen'] = 3;
 }
 return $columns;
}

Any ideas why that could be?
