[wp-hackers] Error wp_usermeta: Table 'xxxx.wp_usermeta' doesn't exist

If anyone could shed light on how to solve the error "wp_usermeta: Table 
'xxxxx.wp_usermeta' doesn't exist" it would be much appreciated.   One of a 
number of Support Forum threads where this error is reported:

Seems to be happening on free.fr hosting when installing WordPress.
