[wp-hackers] Plugins for segmenting user access by role

Hi hackers. Someone said this after reviewing Wordpress: "There is only 
limited support for differentiation of user roles, with no easy way to 
support permissions based on section or type of content." If I wanted to 
point this person toward the best plugins that would allow more 
differentiation of user roles or permissions based on section/type of 
content (categories etc), which ones would you suggest? Thanks!
