[wp-hackers] guide to importing things in intervals?

I'm working on the HTML file import plugin I talked about here a few  
months ago. It's working nicely on small (<150) batches of files, but  
I'd like to keep it from cutting short when it reaches the max  
execution time. I'm looking through the core importers' code for  
guidance.

Does anyone happen to have any articles or documentation on how this  
works?
