Using WP as a platform base to build apps on is something that I see a  
lot of potential in.  Since a theme combines all of the power of  
plugins with a UI layer, it makes it easy to deploy/ship as well.   
Installing your app would be as easy as enabling a new theme in WP.   
WP + Custom Theme = New Application.

There's a lot of potential in there.
