I'm not sure what the other wordpress plugins actually do.. like, take 
each IP address match it to spam / ban list.. once checked it either 
gets banned / blocked / skipped or not. But, even with 21,000 IPS banned 
at one time.. my site was loading OK.. but not great..

a) IP comes to site...
b) it's check against known list of spammer ips
c) if load is heavy.. relieve it else where some how..

I'd love to be able to ADD spam / proxy ips to a main frame site / 
database.. and help others as well as me too.  I'm sure load times will 
be killer.. but it'd still be awesome to add them some where .
